Tejero, who led a coup, presses charges against Artur Mas

The Former Lieutenant Colonel who led a coup in 1981, presses charges against the President of the Catalan government Artur Mas of “sedition and conspiracy to seek secession”.

Former Lieutenant Colonel of the Guardia Civil, the Spanish Gendarmerie, Antonio Tejero, who led the coup in 1981 against the Spanish democratic regime, has made a complaint to the Director of Public prosecutions charging the President of the Catalan government, Mr Artur Mas, of sedition and conspiracy to seek secession.

“Melilla Hoy”, the local newspaper in the Spanish north African enclave of Melilla, has published a letter from Mr. Tejero where he publicly informs that on Tuesday November 20th he pressed charges against “Mr Arturo Mas”, preferring the Spanish form of his name instead of the Catalan Artur, for the continuous and countless bids of secession of Catalonia, considered an important region of the Kingdom of Spain.

The former Lieutenant Colonel regrets “the permissive silence of the Spanish authorities”. He states that neither the King of Spain, the President of the Spanish government, the Parliament or Cortes, and not even the army have taken measures to put an end to the conspiracy of Mr Artur Mas and Catalans who “have been poisoned” by Catalan education.

Furthermore, Mr. Tejero qualifies certain leaders of the Catalan government as “sinners”, and hispanicizes their names in the same letter published by the local newspaper. He also states that only the Spanish King, the Spanish Government, the Cortes and the Armed Forces wield enough power to end this “curse”.
