One of the most serious falsehoods propagated by the Spanish is that, unlike the Catalans, they are not nationalists. They are, and very much so. One example is their position concerning the European unitary patent bill, approved by 484 votes to 164 with 35 abstentions.
The Spanish nationalist MEPs (PP and PSOE parties) voted against because patents in Spanish are not considered. They were angered when Catalan MEP Ramon Tremosa gave several reasons for a more open position. Just look at these five videos to see their irate reaction:
