A fellow Gibraltarian who happens to reside at Europa Point very near to the sea has decided to give the “Guardia Civil” something to think about whenever they invade our waters illegally. He has decided to fly the Castle and Key to remind them that Gibraltar belongs to the people of Gibraltar and the flag of Catalonian independence to remind them that they have other problems to worry about other than Gibraltar. Gibraltar was ceded to Britain in perpetuity in the 1713 Treaty of Utrecht, the same treaty that annexed Catalonia into Spain. This year we celebrate the 300th anniversary of the signing of that treaty."
