Unionist Association Creates Database of Catalan Separatists for Retaliation

An association of Spanish unionists, Cataluña Despierta Ya! (CDY), has begun a campaign which consists of photographing the façades of Catalan homes that have a Catalan flag hung on the balcony, to create a database which they would make available to the forces “of the law,” such as the Spanish army, for when “the right moment arrives.”
Their intention is to make a digital catalogue that might be used to retaliate against individuals of pro-independence ideology. CDY’s president Gerard Bellalta announced the launch of this campaign which, because it is such a “titanic undertaking,” since they want to catalog town halls and public buildings as well, “requires the collaboration of the citizens from all four Catalan provinces.”

According to their claims, they consider this initiative is “necessary so that the traitors of today do not escape justice in the future,” because, according to them, the current situation in Catalonia would lead to a “scenario of a civil conflict, which would force the security forces of the Spanish state to intervene and to bring justice.” “When this happens,” the politician and entrepreneur from Barcelona added, “we want the army, the Spanish police, and the Civil Guard (Guardia Civil) to know where the Catalan flags, a symbol of sedition, high treason, and the breaking of constitutional order, have been on display.”
Mr. Bellata is asking for the collaboration of every “Spanish nationalist” in Catalonia. “We are asking that people take photographs of any place where there is an estelada (the Catalan flag with a star), including town halls and public buildings, and to send them to us. This is a necessary step so that today’s traitors do not escape justice the future.”
“When this happens, and it will happen, the men and women of CDY want to be at the forefront, collaborating with our forces of order in the detection of any seditious elements and even in surveillance tasks so that they cannot escape to France. Spain must know that it can count on us for anything we are asked to do for it.”
The activists have already carried out various actions, like taking down Catalan flags from private and public buildings. According to statements made by one of the activists, “while they were carrying out the task, they had to deal with the owners of the buildings where the flags were on display.” He says, “I told them that a Spaniard like me is braver than a bunch of rats like them, and they could challenge me all they wanted if they had what it takes.” No one did. Later on, he burned the flags.

Franco never died. The franquism simply changed its image. Spain is a shame from the point of view of democracy. That's one of the reasons why catalans want get out from Spain.

Doesn't Spain or the Generalitat have any data protection act in place against such unauthorised storage of data? This isn't only a violation of privacy, it's a threat of persecution and God forbid, elimination!

This group is dedicated to a few months ago to announce his actions and has some support from the media journal "Digital Alert." I think Ballalta seeks to have his 15 minutes of fame.
