The SEAT (Spanish automobile manufacturer) board of director’s chairman and board member of the Volkswagen Group in Wolfsburg (Germany), Francisco Garcia Sanz, said ‘there has been some quarreling’ over the name of the new sedan car that will be released by the end of the year.
Garcia
Sanz laughingly stated that "we’ve run out of towns and cities,” in
reference to the fact that SEAT models are named after cities. When Catalan
board members suggested that there is no model with a Catalan city name, Mr.
Garcia Sanz responded ‘nosotros somos Españoles’ (“we are Spanish”). Francisco
Garcia Sanz revealed this anecdote while addressing the press correspondents at
the Spanish embassy in Berlin. This is an example of the Spanish duplicity that
does not accept Catalans as equals, but at the same time does not let them be
free, since it considers Catalonia to be a conquered territory.
