An International Conference on Language Rights organised by the Office of An Coimisinéir Teanga, Fiontar DCU and Cardiff University, Wales was held in Dublin from 23 - 25 May 2013.
The sharing of best practice, the exchange of information and lessons learnt in the area of languages were core objectives of the conference which was held in the Hilton Hotel, Charlemont Place, Dublin 2.
The conference provided an opportunity to learn from policy and practice in other countries and allow the position of Irish, both in the Gaeltacht and throughout the country, to be evaluated in an international context.
Many Language commissioners from all over the world attended the conference and participated in it. Speakers and guests included representatives from Canada to Kosovo, from the Inuit community of the Arctic, Finland, Wales and Scotland.
