Catalan people are now very grateful for every sign of recognition of their language in all fields.
For centuries, Catalan has suffered historical persecution, harassment and lack of recognition. Its public use was banned, which meant it was pushed back into domestic, lowly use. Catalan was suffocated and hidden away, its public use tauntingly despised.
The use of Catalan in public was forbidden, but the language never disappeared. That is why Catalan people are now very grateful for every sign of recognition of their language in all fields.
The US Consulate recently launched their website in the Catalan Language. It is therefore a pleasure for us to add our sincere congratulations to the US Consulate for this.
