Spanish Public TV broadcasts animal cruelty during children's viewing time

It has been seven years since Spanish public TVE aired the last bullfight. But on September 1st 2013, Spanish public state television started broadcasting bullfighting again, before watershed or safe harbor hours. This comes at the same time the Spanish government intends to declare bullfights a Heritage of Cultural Interest (Bien de Interés Cultural or BIC).

Aside from being a shameful and cruel tradition that teaches children to be tolerant of and to participate in animal abuse, it is not self-sustaining and requires public money to subsist. The Republican Left Party of Catalonia (ERC) has publicly denounced that bullfighting receives subsidies of €700m per year that could be better used to improve health and education.
