The latest results published by the Centre d’estudis d’opinió (Center for Public Opinion Studies) highlights that the general perception is that of a consolidation of secessionism—and it reflects more than an absolute majority. In response to the question of “What would you do if tomorrow there was a referendum on Catalonia’s independence,” 54.7% would vote in favor, 20.7% against, 17% would abstain, and 5.4% do not know or do not answer.
The respondents’ answer is obvious: the independence has strengthened its position. This is shown by the surveys record based on the answers to the simple question "if tomorrow there was a referendum to decide on the independence of Catalonia, what would you do?", but it is also shown by other questions, such as that which asks the respondents what Catalonia should be.
According to the Barometer, 46.4% of respondents clearly opt for "an independent state" –two points higher than the previous barometer– and 22.4% would accept being a "state within a federal Spain." It is an overwhelmingly majority against 4.4% who would want to be a region of Spain and 20.7% who would prefer to continue as an autonomous community of Spain.
