Spanish government formed by the Popular Party (founded by a Franco's Minister, Manuel Fraga)
invested € 23,000 to repatriate bones of 29 Blue Division Spaniards who died for Hitler.
The Blue Division was not small. More than 45,000 Spaniards fought for Hitler between 1941 and 1944. Some of them are still alive and present in rallies against the Catalonia's independence. They rally with PP and Citizens (C'anos), a right party of Spanish unitarists with 36 out of 135 MPs in Catalonia. The Blue Division was the only component of the German Army to be awarded a medal of their own, commissioned by Hitler after the effectiveness.
The PP has a strong link with the Division. Their origin is the same: Franco. PP has
maintained street and square names to the Blue Division as in Alacant or Madrid in spite of leftists oposition. In Murcia the PP
demanded an allegiance to the Blue Division members. In fact Blue Division members
have been awarded recently by the Spanish army and the PP.
Not a single € has been spent by the PP on recovering bodies of 110,000 dead republican in the Civil War.
