Former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont has said today in a press conference in Berlin that he will return to Belgium on Saturday, following Spain’s decision to withdraw a European warrant that prompted German authorities to arrest him in March. "This weekend I will return to Belgium," the separatist leader told a news conference in Berlin, adding his "political activity will be based in Belgium".
The leader spoke to reporters in Berlin, a week after a court in northern Germany said Spain’s decision meant he was now free to leave the country. “It will not take 20 years before I set foot on Catalan territory,” swore exiled Catalan president. Puigdemont will political act from Belgium and will help to the Catalan republic Council to implement the Democratic Referendum of October 1st.
