The Spanish prosecutor's office goes mad and demands 2,5 years of jail for 11 Catalans for a peaceful protest

The Spanish prosecutor's office, linked to the Spanish government, yesterday demanded two and a half years of jail for eleven members of the Defense Committees of the Republic (CDR) that on February 23 of last year protested entry to the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) in defense of the release of political prisoners.

The prosecutor's office demands one year in prison for two more people accused of disobedience and resistance to the authority. Of the fourteen detainees, one was released because he was a minor.

The Alerta Solidària group considers the demand "the most obvious proof of the irrationality of the Spanish criminal system" pursued by the independentist militancy while "blinding impunity of constant signs of violence and Spanish intimidation are blinded" » The statement concludes that, despite the relief of the PSOE at the head of the Spanish government, there is "no real change in the repressive policy of the government of Madrid."
