Photo exposition inaugurated in the Parliament of Flanders, 'The ballot box revolution'

Today, a photo exposition has been inaugurated in the Parliament of Flanders, 'The ballot box revolution'.* It tells the story, since 2009, of Catalonia's peaceful and political process to self-determination and independence. The President of the Parliament of Flanders, Jan Peumans, opened the exposition, which can be visited during the 10 coming days. ANC (Catalan National Assembly) Chair Elisenda Paluzié wished to thank president Peumans for his hospitality and expressed her gratitude to the Flemish people for its solidarity with the Catalan political exiles and with the Catalan demonstrators on 7 December in Brussels.

Paluzié reaffirmed Catalonia's wish to govern itself, as it is its right according to international treaties Spain signed and ratified. She also wanted to denounce the human rights violations in Spain and the attacks against Free Speech and the freedom of assembly. Paluzié also attende dthe  Conference on The right to Self determination: finding ways to advance within the EU framework".  ANC Chair also announced that, with the illegal alteration of the composition of the Catalan parliament yesterday by the decisions of judge Llarena, we will lodge an appeal at the Constitutional Court and after that, at the UN, in defense of the voters.

Catalonia's President Carles Puigdemont was received with an applause by the assistants of the inauguration and also wished to thank Flanders for its support. He denounced Spain's political prosecution and explained the situation in Catalonia as unacceptable in the mark of the European Union. Puigdemont said it’s "extraordinarily abnormal" that the Catalan parliament is "under the rule" of an Spanish court. The President accused the Spanish court of "meddling" with Catalan politics and "interfering" with the parliamentary majority that came with the last election.
