President Puigdemont at the Homeland & Global Security Forum in Geneva and meets world leaders

Catalonia's President Carles Puigdemont participated on October 25th in the international Homeland's Global Security Forum organized by the NGO Crans Montana Forum in Geneva,. He evaluated the “organic and security” impact of the Catalan situation at an EU-level. Puigdemont is a special guest for one of the plenary sessions of this prestigious Swiss NGO. This edition of the Forum, called ‘Today’s Glocal Security in a World of Rejections & Hardenings,’ includes various conferences on different global security challenges, from cybersecurity to migration, from the Arctic to nationalism. Puigdemont is to speak at ‘The European Union and the 21st Century’s Changes Organic and Security Impact of the Situation in Catalonia’ conference. This year will also mark 100 years of the end of the First World War in July 1918, and the Forum will also provide a space to reflect on “regional security” in Europe.

Catalan President meet the ambassador Jean-Paul Carteron, Chairman of the Crans Montana Forum, Armenia's President Armen Sarkissian, the former President of Montenegro Filip Vujanovic, Lesotho's PM Bruno Motsoahae Thabane, the Solomon Islands Minister Samuel Manetoali, Bangla Desh President, Abdul Hamid and the former Ucrainian PM, and candidate to President for the next elections, Yulia Timoshenko.

Mr Puigdemont spoke in the opening session about security saying the security is freedom. He explained as the Catalan people organized peacefully a Referendum demonstrating the power of Democracy. All this movement only found violence as the Spanish answer. But he said that  ‘We in Catalonia believe that the right to self-determination is a tool of peace’.
