New setback to Spain of the Human Rights Court of Strasbourg. Spaniards will have to compensate € 4,200 to an activist who was convicted of accusing two police officers of having tortured him to evict him from a house.In the case of Toranzo Gómez v. kingdom of Spain, the Court has found a violation of the right to freedom of expression. The applicant was convicted for slander in 2011 after having accused police officers of torture. He alleged that they had attempted to remove him from a makeshift tunnel using a rope while he participated in a sit-in protest at a social centre.
