The Crida Nacional per la República (National Call for the Republic), promoted by Carles Puigdemont, jailed grassroots activist Jordi Sánchez and Quim Torra, was presented yesterday in Girona calling on "unity" and asking for "civics" on this 21-D, so as not to "fall into the provocation" which is the celebration of the Spanish colonial Cabinet in Barcelona. The presentation of the Crida filled the chamber room of the Auditorium, the small room and also several rows of seats were enabled in the lobby so that people could follow the act for a giant screen. Carles Puigdemont took part from Brussels, while there were also parliaments of Gemma Geis, who explained the organizational presentation of La Crida, and Marina Geli, who drew up the political presentation.
Together for Catalonia (JxCaT) MP Gemma Geis presented the organizational structure of the Crida, explaining that there are currently 15,000 founding members and 54,000 adherents. However, the Call will take shape until January 19, 2019, which is when it will officially be presented. Until then, amendments are received. According to her, the main objective of the Crida is to make the Republic effective through a "peaceful but forceful mobilization" and, when necessary, opt for disobedience.
Finally, former Socialist Health Minister Marina Geli defended the political statement of the Crida, also calling for unity and pointing out that small and medium states such as Catalonia could be a way of ensuring that people can "live well". Like Puigdemont and Geis, she also demanded that he not "fall into the trap" on Friday and continue with peaceful demonstrations such as those that have occurred in recent years.
