On Thursday, Carles Puigdemont started a visit to Faroe Islands. He’ll be received by country authorities, will attend cultural and social events and will participate at an International Conference on self-determination to speak about the Catalan case and the Spanish repression. The Catalan President was welcomed in the Faroe Parliament by the Speaker Páll á Reynatúgvu and he meet the Foreign Affairs Minister. The Mayor of Tórshavn, Annika Olsen, and Catalan President Carles Puigdemont had been discussing about Mediterranean, Artic and North Atlantic policies as well as the advantages and disadvantages of EU non-membership for the Faroes. Both the Catalan delegation as well as one from New Caledonia, lead by Daniel Goa, will took part in a selfdetermination conference at Nordic House. New Caledonia will vote on November 4th if it wants to become a state or to remain in France in a democratic Referendum. The President answered the absurd statements by Spanis vice Calvo who said that there was no referendum in Scotland in 2014... “Evidence is so clear that it's almost embarrassing to have to defend the obvious: the UK celebrated a referendum on self-determination based on respect towards Scotland and the will of the Scottish parliament".
