The hunger strike of the MPs of Junts per Catalunya (JxCat, Together for Catalonia) began today and has the support of the president of the Generalitat in the Exile Carles Puigdemont. The former chairman of the Assemblea Nacional Catalana (ANC, Catalan National Assembly), MP from JxCat and promoter of the Crida Nacional per la República (CNR, National Call for the Republic) Jordi Sànchez and Jordi Turull has announced the measure. The family members and the lawyers of the prisoners have already been informed of the action. The initiative of fasting is indefinite. It doesn't have a finish date. Starting today, they only drink water. The protest calls to the Spanish Constitutional Court to resolve their their judicial remedy paralyzed for a year. Without this response from the Constitutionalist, Catalan political prisoners can not go to the European Court of Human Rights.

At the end of 2017, activists from Cornellà de Llobregat (Barcelona) carried out a similar action, also to demand the release of "political prisoners", with little echo. The ANC wants to try again, this time with one of the prisoners who has spent more time in prison, more than a year.
