The national council, held yesterday in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, also discuted the relation with the National Call for the Republic promoted by Carles Puigdemont, a PDeCAT (Catalonia's Democratic Party) member. A faction wants to give full support to the "Crida" but another one wants to strengthen the party itself. About the next European Elections the PDeCAT defended a pro independence unity candidature but it has been refused by the Catalonia's Republican Left wich prefers to run alone refusing any unity and promoting a partisan option. The national council yesterday defended "A joint list of the parties that represent the nations without a State in Spain" but ERC has vetoed the party if others want to sign an alliance with them.
In this case David Bonvehí, one of the co leaders of the PDeCAT has said "The PDeCAT has never been the problem for unity or for the generosity that the country needs". In spite of this "Today it is convenient to give two messages: the PDeCAT, whatever the formula, we will have all the consequences, and that, in the extraordinary situation that we live in, we would be comfortable with the current alliances with the Basque National Party".
